Stayed away

Yesterday was black Friday and I never go anywhere near a mall on that day or even for a few days after. I just can’t deal with the crowds. I saw on the news a woman was being interviewed about the crowds in the mall and she said that being pushed and elbowed and stuff was all part of the holiday fun. The woman must be crazy or something. I don’t consider being pushed, shoved or elbowed fun.. in fact I consider that being very rude. I’d like to put price on that woman and run her across a barcode scanner a time or two since she thinks it’s fun to be pushed, shoved and elbowed.

I’ll either do my shopping online or wait until the crowds thin out some before doing Christmas shopping… if I can even afford to do any at all this year.

Late night TV

Have you ever had nights where you can’t sleep? Have you ever watched late night TV? It’s chock full of infomercials and commercials for everything under the sun. I’ve seen mesothelioma ads, ads for “male problems”, infomercials for food preparation products, exercise products and a lot more.

I’m glad I don’t have problems sleeping anymore or I’d be so tempted to shop, shop, shop late at night. I have a hard time not shopping online during the day as it is. But not having a job or much of an income keeps my shopping urges at bay… and that’s a good thing right now. I just have to stick to “window shopping” until I can find a job.

I love this place

I do a lot of my online shopping at Buy.com and I post about it on my ArmyMom blog a lot. They always have great things on sale.

I was just browsing through looking at kitchen appliances they do have some really good deals. They have everything from coffee filters on up to expensive drink machines.

The last thing I bought from them was a new wireless router that I just love. My old one was about to die. It kept kicking us off the internet several times a day. Since I got the new one I have been kicked off once.

Keep this place in mind when shopping online. They ship fast and sometimes shipping is free!!

Shopping

I got paid last night and today the money is all gone! No.. I didn’t buy any expensive jewelry… I went grocery shopping. But at least I now have enough food for at least the next 2 weeks. I got a 2 lb package of hamburger and split it up so I have 1 package to make spaghetti and another to make a meat loaf. I got all kinds of stuff.

dsc01674I also found Pepperidge Farm cookie scented candles there. I picked up a Milano Double Chocolate candle and it smells so yummy! They had all kinds of cookie scents but I just had to have the chocolate one!

They had sugar cookie, vanilla cookie, orange, mint and raspberry scented ones.. just to name a few. Actually I don’t remember all the ones they had because my eyes went right to the chocolate one!

I can’t wait to light this one up and see how it smells when the candle is burning.

Shopping

selfcheckoutThe store that I do my grocery shopping has several self-checkout lanes. I use them all the time and their POS system works great. I had been to another grocery store with the self-checkout but that store had a lot of problems with theirs.

I like to use self-checkout because it’s faster, you don’t have to deal with incompetent cashiers and there is always someone nearby I do have a problem with checking out.

What do you think? Do you use the self-checkout or do you stand in the long lines waiting for a cashier to check you out? Why?

Strange shopping list

I went grocery shopping last week and when I grabbed a cart there was a piece of paper in it. I went to throw it out but the list on the paper caught my eye. It wasn’t a normal list, it had a few strange things on it.

eggs
milk
butter
Leptovox
car wax
shovel
green paint
red paint
sequins
seeds
acorns

I don’t know what this person was going to do with some of that stuff but a lot of that stuff they couldn’t have gotten in a grocery store anyway. It left me scratching my head and laughing a little.

Cookies

I have the grandkids this weekend and we made cookies… chocolate chip cookies to be exact. Well actually I made them and they ate them. My Christmas party, at work, is on Monday so I made a batch for the party as well. I’m surprised I have as many cookies as I do because a lot of cookie dough just didn’t make it onto the cookie sheets *licks lips*. The grandkids were more than happy to be taste testers. They tasted and tasted and tasted some more. Kody, the youngest, told me my cookies were the awesome-est! They just kept asking for more, but they only had 3 each. I didn’t want them to spoil dinner or get a belly ache.

Besides cookie making I went grocery shopping, bought some Christmas gifts and went to CVS to pick up a prescription and a few other things. I came home, cleaned and polished my discount furniture, ran the dishwasher then went to pick up the grandkids.

Been busy

Since Andi has been here we’ve been busy. We’ve been out to all of the retail franchises looking for bargains, having fun with the grandkids and other family. I haven’t had much time to post.

Andi will probably be leaving on either Tuesday or Wednesday to head back to Texas. She has a lot to do before she deploys to Iraq for her 2nd deployment. On Friday she’s getting married! They are just having a quickie wedding and will have another one later on for family and friends.
