Still looking

I’m still looking for a job. It’s now been over 2 years since I worked and I’ve been looking for a job all this time. I do office work and can’t sit or stand for long periods of time so sales jobs are out of the question for me.

It gets very frustrating sending out resume after resume and not getting a call or going to an interview and not getting hired.

But on the upside my house is always nice an clean!

Taking classes

I’m taking classes for bookkeeping. I just started the other day. I thought I’d add something to my resume by taking some classes and maybe I’ll be able to find a job soon. I found an accredited school online that offers all kinds of online business degrees.

Andi is taking classes too for medical stuff but her’s will take a lot longer than my classes will. Both our resumes needed a boost in the right direction and employers seem to want people with degrees or other specialized training anymore. It’s hard for someone who is self taught in things to get a job on their own merit anymore.

I’ve gotten 100% on the two tests that I’ve taken so far and will be submitting a third test in the next few days. Wish me luck with my online business degree classes!!

Still looking for a job

I’m still looking for a job. I do clerical/office work and can use a variety of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Quicken and different document management software programs. I have been doing this type of work for the past 22 years and consider myself quite experienced. I am self-taught on the computer and I am a quick learner. I can use a lot of different types of office machines such as faxes, copiers and scanners.

The reason I haven’t found a job yet is that the job market for my type of work is not very good. There aren’t a lot of jobs out there for general office workers and secretaries. I was working at a temp job in 2008 and was laid off at the end of the season. The company decided, because of the economy, not to bring in temp workers in 2009. Because I was a temp worker I didn’t pay in enough to unemployment that the unemployment I did get only lasted a couple months. I have been without any income, except for a little here and there since April of 2009.

I haven’t given up. I’m still looking. I send out resumes and have even tried to make my resume better but either I don’t hear anything or I go to an interview and don’t get the job.

You must be tired of hearing this

I know my readers must be sick and tired of reading posts about my problems but I’m sorry here’s another one. I’m still unemployed and have been for over a year now. The job market is really bad here in my part of New Jersey. Just yesterday I got a rejection email for a job that I sent my resume in for. They didn’t even bother to call me in for an interview. They just looked at my resume and rejected it. I was perfectly qualified for that job too.

The stress of not being able to find work is taking a huge toll on my life. I don’t eat much at all which has got to be one of the best diets that work of all time. My pants have gotten quite loose, which really isn’t good because I can’t afford to buy new clothes that fit. I’ve found a lot of new wrinkles and more gray hairs. Sadness and depression rule my life.
