Candles

Candles are pretty and can make your home smell good but sometimes cleaning out the Votive candle holders can be a real pain in the neck. There are a couple different ways to clean the wax residue of them.

One way is to put the holder in the freezer for a little bit then you should be able to pop that bit of candle right out of the holder. Some say to put about an eighth inch of water into the holder before inserting the candle and that will make removal easier. (I haven’t tried this one, so I don’t know if it really works or not). Another way is to put the holder into a pan of very hot water, if it’s a washable holder, and wait a little bit and you should be able to scrape the wax out with a spoon or butter knife.

My preferred method is the freezer method. It takes about an hour and the leftover wax pops right out with a spoon or butter knife.

The heat is on

Summer season is upon us with a vengeance. Before you turn on your AC you should replace/clean the filter (depending on what type you have). You should also have your air conditioning compressor checked and make sure it’s clean around it. If your AC unit is outside, make sure leaves and debris is cleared away from the unit.

The outside unit is something I don’t have to take care of since I live in a condo and I rent. The cleaning around it is done by the maintenance people and if it breaks down then it’s up to the landlord to get it fixed.

My AC is working perfectly. I’ve had to use it for the past few weeks now and I’m nice and comfortable inside when the weather is hot and humid outside.
