My neighbor

Just before we moved in our neighbor, across the hall, had surgery, kidney failure and some other problems and had only been home from the hospital for a couple weeks. I think he’s probably on social security disability because of him having a lot of health problems.

When we had the big snowstorm the day after Christmas Andi helped him out and went to the store for him. He didn’t seem to have a lot of visitors except for visiting nurses coming to help him out.

A couple weeks ago there was an ambulance and medics out front and they took the man out on a stretcher. He was gone for over a week. He’s back home now and has been for maybe a day or two. He’s had a lot more visitors coming to see him and help him out.

It’s Christmas

First off I want to wish all my readers a very Merry Christmas and I hope all your wishes get fulfilled.

Christmas is a sparse one here in the Muskett household. Maybe next year will be better. I’m already thinking of things to get everyone next year. If my uncle, who smoked cigars, was still alive I would get him a really nice cigar humidor to keep his cigars in.

I want to spoil my grandkids, for once, and get them exactly what they want.. no matter the cost. I would spoil myself and get myself a really nice computer. I murdered my last one trying to give it a good cleaning. I ended up bending the pins on the processor and couldn’t afford to buy a new one (they’re very expensive) and I couldn’t straighten the pins enough so it would work again.

Here’s hoping and praying that next year is a better year than this one has been.

Just around the corner

I have two things waiting just around the corner… moving (Saturday) and Christmas. Unfortunately Christmas has to go to the back burner.. I just can’t afford Christmas again this year. It’s really getting old not being able to afford to buy anything for anyone including myself.

I’d really like to get the kids each a pair of julbo sunglasses or something equally as nice. I’d love to get myself a computer since I don’t have one anymore but a place to live is more important right now.

How was your Thanksgiving?

Our Thanksgiving was nice. We had turkey, my homemade stuffing, corn, mashed potatoes, dutch apple pie, pumpkin pie and crescent rolls. There was hubby, me, Andi, Tayler, Eddie, Kody & Benton here for dinner. It was really nice and everyone enjoyed their dinner.

I don’t know what I’ll do for Christmas dinner as I’ll be in a one bedroom condo that has no room for dining room table and chairs unless everyone eats off a plate on their lap. That would work I suppose.

So how was your Thanksgiving?

Memories

I don’t know why I thought of this now, in June. I was sitting here remembering Christmas’ when I was little. I remember emptying out my stocking and always finding it full of nuts, oranges, little net bags filled with chocolates that looked like gold coins and all kinds of yummy goodies.

My mom always bought a big box of chocolates and made all kinds of cookies. Almost everything back then, in the 50′s and 60′s, were home made like cookies, cakes, pies and breads. Before I started working, after my youngest was in 5th grade, I used to bake all that kind of stuff all the time. Nowadays people go to bakeries or buy stuff in supermarkets. To me there is nothing better than something homemade.

How do feel about that? Are things better homemade or store bought?

Merry Christmas

I hope everyone had a great holiday. I was hoping to get called for some employee screening but I haven’t heard anything yet. There are just not many job opening out there for me and those that I do get an interview for have a lot of people that applied. I’m still keeping my hopes up that I get a job soon.

Last week we got over 12 inches of snow and starting Friday night the temperature rose and we got rain. It rained all day yesterday too. Now all that’s left of the snow is what was piled up from it being plowed. Now hubby wants more snow. He worked 34 hours plowing during that last snowstorm. Big money to be made doing that!

Tis the season

It’s just about that time to start sending out the Christmas cards. Do you make your own or buy them? Do you have them engraved or do you write your own personal messages in them and sign them by hand? Do you pick up the cheapest box of cards that are all the same, generic ones or do you spend a few bucks and have fancy christmas photo cards made?

I’ve done it just about every way mentioned above except for the photo cards. I could never get hubby to do a family photo. He hates having his picture taken and getting dressed up for one.

Which types do you like the best? I really love the cute ones with snowmen, animals or with a pretty snow scene on the the most. Unfortunately I probably won’t be sending out any cards this year. My leftover cards from last year are in storage and I really can’t afford to do the cards this year.

Can’t think of a title

We just got home from a trip to Texas to take our grandsons down to their mom. This trip I didn’t have a notebook computer to take with me. I really missed it and I missed my home computer. Hubby asked me how much laptops cost and I told him that I could get one for well under $1000. He told me that if I’m a good little girl that santa might bring me one this Christmas.

When we got home I looked on the Dell website and can get one for just under $800. If I check out other places I could probably get one even cheaper.

It will be nice to have a laptop for traveling or even for at home when I just don’t feel like sitting at my desk.
