Moved

I moved 2 weeks ago and it feels so good to finally be out of that camper we were in. I’m living at my sister-in-laws house with my daughter, her fiancée and son. I’m also living with a kitty and puppy too. They don’t get along too well yet but they are getting better being around each other.

My sister-in-law moved into a 1 bedroom condo and we are paying rent and also trying to fix the place up so she can sell it later on. The house needs lots of paint and care to get it ready for sale. There is a fireplace in the basement that is white painted brick. It would be nice to be able to get rid of the brick and replace that with one of the nice Amish fireplaces that I’ve seen. There is one that even has a entertainment center type surround for it.

This house is electric and having a fireplace in the winter helps to keep the heating bills down. It doesn’t have central air either, just window units. We only put the air on in the rooms we are in. At night we turn off the downstairs units and turn on the bedroom units.

Tips for your unmentionables

Everyone woman has delicates/unmentionables/under garments that need special care. Below are a few tips to keep them looking pretty.

Your lingerie should always be washed after every wear because perfume, perspiration, and other lotions might stain the fabric.

Always sort your lingerie according to color so the lighter ones don’t get stained from the darker colored ones.

It’s better to wash your lingerie by hand rather than in the washer. But if that’s not possible, then always put your washer on delicate cycle and use cold water and a gentle detergent.

Before putting them in the washer, be sure to attach the hooks and the eyes so that they don’t get caught on anything.

When washing by hand, always use a mild detergent and wash your lingerie only in luke-warm water. This is very important for cotton lingerie because hot water could damage the color and the material. Also do not rub those your lacy things too hard because the lace can tear easily.

Wired and padded lingerie should be washed for a short cycle in washers otherwise the wire may come out or the pads may get destroyed.

Lingerie should never be dried in a dryer because the heat of the dryer could affect its elasticity, cause the under-wire to distort, and fray and shrink the trims. They should always be line dried.

For lingerie made from silk, satin, or synthetic use mild detergent and cold water to soak and rinse them.

If you do use a washer for your lingerie invest in a lingerie bag to keep them all together.

Swimsuit care

Now that it’s summer I thought I’d post tips on caring for your new sexy swimwear.

1. Before First Use Only: Soak swimwear in a mixture of vinegar and water for approx. 30 minutes. (1 tablespoon per 1 quart of water). This will slow down fading and keep bright colors vibrant longer.

2. Before going into the pool, shower swimsuit and soak with clear water. This will help suit absorb less chlorine.

3. Rinse your swimsuit in cool water immediately after swimming in chlorinated water or salt water.

4. Never.. ever wash your swimsuit in the washer. Always wash it by hand and use a swimsuit cleaner. The washing machine can breakdown the lycra and ruin the bra cups that are sewn into a lot of swimsuits.

5. Never put your swimsuit in the dryer or in the sun. Always hang it to dry inside. The sun will speed up fading and both the dryer and sun will cause the breakdown of the elastic in your swimwear.
