Kitchen Update

I would love to be able to update this kitchen. It has been sort of updated before but still needs a lot of work. The kitchen needs new appliances and glass mosaic tiles as a back splash would be nice.

The counter tops are a laminate with a woodgrain pattern and I would love to have granite. The woodgrain just looks so dated. The stove is really old too and doesn’t even have a clock or timer on it… oh and it’s electric. I’d rather have gas. I love cooking on a gas stove better than electric.

The floors are so old and the tiles weren’t put down by someone who knew what they were doing. The lines between the tiles don’t even line up right. It looks terrible. The bathroom floor is the same way. Dirt and stuff get stuck in the deep designs.

What I look for in a kitchen

black-countertop-kitchen-homeIf we ever get a house of our own again; this is what I want to have in a new kitchen:

1. Black granite counter tops
2. Stainless steel appliances
3. A backsplash covered in metal tiles
4. An easy to maintain floor (and not cheesy looking)
5. Oak or Maple cabinets with glass fronts on some of the doors
6. Under cabinet lighting
7. A gas stove with a waist-high broiler
8. A pantry
9. A separate closet for mops, brooms and cleaners
10. A built in cutting board
11. Lots of drawer space
12. A center island with room for seating

I watch way too many home improvement shows and want just about everything they do on those shows. The picture above is almost exactly what I want except I want the seating at a center island.

Shopping online

Do you shop online? What kind of things do you shop for? I’ve bought clothes, shoes, appliances, gifts, electronics and even shopped for auto insurance online.

Shopping online can be a safe experience if you only give your personal information on a site that is a secure site. Usually you can find that out by looking at the bottom of your screen. You should see a little lock. If it’s closed then it’s a secure site. If it’s open.. then it’s not secure. Also look for https in the URL of the website. The https means a secure website.

Shop safe and keep your personal information secure.
