Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair – Review

pethairremoverThe following post is not a paid review. No one contacted me or offered to pay me for this review. I have a cat that leaves her fur all over everything and saw a commercial for it so I bought one to give it a try. These are my own words and honest review.

JoJo, our kitty, loves to lay on our bed. We don’t mind except for one thing… she leaves a lot of fur behind. Our comforter is dark blue and shows every little bit of fur. I was about to check into health insurance leads for JoJo for leaving so much fur around!

I saw a commercial for the Pledge Fabric Sweeper and decided to get one to try out. It’s a sealed unit that has 2 rollers with a grabber fabric on them. When the unit is full of pet hair you just toss it in the trash.

To use it you slide the sweeper from side to side in short strokes. On the first stroke the roller picks up the pet hair and on the second the other roller cleans off the first one and pushes the hair into the unit so that makes it self-cleaning. If you do happen to get a build up of pet hair on the rollers just roll it on a clean part of the furniture.. it won’t put the hair back on to the furniture either.

I have to tell you.. I’m really impressed with this. In less than 5 minutes I had a cat fur free comforter again. It was so easy to use.. it only takes light strokes.. you don’t have to push hard.

I comparison shopped before I bought it. In CVS it was $5.99 and at Shoprite it was $4.99 so I saved $1.00 by getting it at Shoprite. I will definitely buy another one of these when this one is full.

Oh.. you can tell when it’s full when it no longer picks up the pet hair.

Pictures below are before, after, a picture of the unit and a picture of the unit with JoJo’s fur in it.

Purex 3-in-1

dsc01760This isn’t one of those nuphedra reviews, it’s a review of a cool new all in one detergent, fabric softener and anti-static. It’s called Purex 3-in-1. I just bought it this morning at ShopRite. Hubby is allergic to some detergents so I got the hypo-allergenic version which is called Pure and Clean. They have 2 other scents – Spring Oasis and Tropical Escape.

This comes in a sheet and the bottom portion of the sheet is the detergent the top portion is the softener and anti-static. You put the sheet in the washer, along with the clothes, then when the washer is done you put the sheet into the dryer. You don’t need separate detergent & softener. It’s a real money and time saver. I did a load of towels and they came out so clean and soft. I can’t wait to try this out on the rest of the laundry.

Inside of the package is a booklet of instructions, etc with a coupon for $1.00 off of any 2 Purex Complete 3-in-1 products.

Staticy hair

DSC00965(click for bigger) I finally found something that stops my hair from being so full of static. It’s that way in the winter and the summer… the spring and the fall. Let’s just say it’s staticy all year long. Well, it was until I finally found something that ends that problem. It’s called got 2b smooth operator smoothing lustre lotion. I bought mine at CVS but you can probably find it just about anywhere. My bottle cost $7.99 and it’s worth it!

DSC00967(click for bigger) This lotion comes in a pump bottle with these cute little plastic charms attached to the bottle. Smooth operator smooths and controls fly away hair and it’s weightless and gives my hair luster and softness. It protects against damage from heat styling like blow drying or curling irons and it has a UV protectant.

After you wash and towel dry your hair pump some smooth operator into your hand and distribute evenly then style as you see fit.

I do love this stuff. It’s the only thing that keeps the static away from shampoo to shampoo. I’ve tried other things that would only last an hour or two and that just wasn’t doing the job. This stuff really works!

New Kitchen Toy

SensoI was given a new Senseo Coffee Pod System to review. I tried it out this morning after flushing it as directed in the instructions and it’s so very easy to use. I didn’t have any creamer in the house so I had my Medium Roast coffee (included with the machine) with Splenda only. It was good coffee, it just would have been better with cream.

The Senseo came with the machine, a bag of Medium Roast coffee pods, a canister to store the pods in, a 1 cup and 2 cup pod holder and a couple coupons for Sara Lee products. Using a single pod will give you a 4 oz cup of coffee. Using 2 pods will give you an 8 oz cup of coffee (or you can make 2 4 oz cups of coffee at once). The directions are very easy to understand.

I really love cappuccino and I’ll be going to the store to get the cappuccino pods soon.

I also have 5 $20 off coupons that are good until June 30, 2008. If you would like me to send you a coupon please leave a comment saying so and I will contact you to get your address. Or if you don’t mind waiting 2 to 6 weeks you can get your machine free by filling out a form at the Senseo website.

Pillsbury Grands

There are a number of travel guides available in the market, containing deals on new york hotel as well as other cheap hotels deals.

Grands_RollsI just found out yesterday that I don’t have high blood sugar after all. The doctor didn’t tell me I had to fast for the blood test in October and the lab tech didn’t ask if I had eaten anything (I did eat that morning). I had another done the end of January and it was fine (I was told to fast). So today I saw a can of Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon rolls in the fridge left over from Christmas and they were still good (according to the expiration date on the can). I just took them out of the oven and I’m going to have one! They smell sooooo good!

Yummy!

DIY

Home Improvement Hubby and I are do it yourselfers. When we had our house we added on to the back of the garage in order to add another bedroom, kitchen of sorts, bathroom and living room for my parents. My father died before it was finished and he never got to see it completed. Mom moved in and loved it. I did the peel and stick floors in the kitchen and bathroom. I guess I missed something because those tiles never stayed stuck quite right. When you walked on them you could hear the adhesive letting go when you would lift your foot. I left the job to install ceramic tile in the bath to hubby.

For those of you who aren’t real handy, DoitYourself.com has over 100 forums on do it yourself home improvement projects. You can find clear instructions, some with videos, on doing things yourself in your home. Why pay an arm and a leg for wood floor when you can do them yourself for a whole lot less? In home improvement knowledge is power. It’s the power to save you money. If I had know of this place during the addition building maybe the floor tiles would have stayed stuck to the floor better! But then there were no DVD’s and I wasn’t as computer literate as I am now.

I do love to get my hands dirty and I love tools! Maybe I should have been born a guy! Haha!
