Don’t trip

Sometimes it’s just not easy to place things where you don’t have to run cords across the floor. To help you so you don’t trip over the cord you can buy some floor cord covers which will cover up the cord and make the area look much nicer and safer.

You can even buy these in different colors and styles to match your decor. They come in woodgrain too. Prices are reasonable so there is no need to have cords where they don’t belong because it’s not affordable to hide them.

I wish they had used them in my condo to take the cable for the TV from one side of the room to the other. Instead they have the cable running up over the sliding glass door then down along the baseboard then up along the fireplace then down along the baseboard to the opposite wall. It just doesn’t look very neat.

Maybe…

Maybe I should start going to storage unit auctions. I watch those shows on TV where people buy storage units for cheap and up making a lot of money sometimes and other times the units are filled with worthless junk. There have been some units filled with boats, rifle scopes, rare coins, old baseball cards and other rare and expensive items. The people on that show sometimes make more than 3 times what they spent on the unit.

I saw one show where the unit was filled with nothing but trash and I think one guy bid on it and got it for something like $5.

Now that I think about it… I don’t think I’d make much money. I’d see people’s personal items, like pictures and papers, and try to return the stuff to them.

Whew!!

Let me tell you what… running after and cleaning up after an almost 2 year old has got to be one of the best fat burners around. I’m babysitting my grandson today, well.. I was… they just came in the door, and he wore me out in that short time.

I picked up all his toys so I could vacuum and he kept pulling them out. He kept getting right in front of the vacuum and I had to keep moving him out of the way. He torments the poor kitty, pulling her tail or her fur.. getting into her food and water, etc.

He finally went down for his nap just 15 minutes before mom and dad got home. I will enjoy these next couple hours of nap time!

What do you do with junk mail?

I get a lot of junk mail in my mailbox. I get a lot of store circulars, advertisements, menus and coupons. I keep the coupons and read through the circulars and magazines looking for articles to keep and good sales. I know some people cut out articles like symbiotropin reviews, decorating ideas and such and put them into a file or binder for reference later on.

Everything I don’t use or want goes into a paper bag to be taken out to the recycle bin when it’s full. I shred anything that might have personal information on it so no one can steal my identity (although it would do them no good to do that because my credit sucks!).

Coming soon

My mom’s birthday is coming up soon. It’s June 24th to be exact and she’ll be 91 years old. I need to start looking for some birthday gift ideas for her. She lives in a nursing home so I can’t get her anything too extravagant or big.

I know she’d love some flowers or some fruit so I think I’ll look around and find something really nice for her. She loves strawberries so maybe some nice chocolate covered ones will do the trick.

I feel bad because I haven’t been able to make it to see her very often. Money is tight and gas is at a premium lately. I have to get her something really special for her birthday.

Scratched

I wish I could find a way to get rid of scratches on my prescription eyeglasses. I’ve had them for over 4 years and I need to go and get new ones. The problem is that I can’t afford new glasses right now.

My current glasses are scratched and I really don’t like them anymore. I want to get something different that flatters my face and will help me see better than what I can right now.

I would love to wear contacts but I can’t. I tried them and they were ok for a couple weeks then my eyes started getting dry and irritated so I had to stop wearing them. It’s a shame because I loved how I looked without glasses and I was able to wear sunglasses again.

Trash

I have some trash to take out to the dumpster. In our little community here we have trash dumpsters and attached recycling bins. We don’t pay for our trash pickup. It’s part of the landlord’s association fees. I don’t mind taking the trash down the street to the dumpster.

People aren’t supposed to put things like furniture, home speakers, TV’s, etc in the dumpster or around it but they do and it sometimes makes it hard to get to the dumpster to put your trash in. They are supposed to call someone to come and haul things like that away and pay for it themselves.

There are townhouses across the street who have their own trash cans and recycling bins that they have to put out on trash day. I’ve seen them taking their trash down to our dumpsters at times. I guess their cans are full.

Neighbor watching

The girl upstairs looks like shes moving out or going on a long vacation. She backed her car up in the parking space and so far has brought out 3 large suitcases that are jam-packed with clothes. There might even be some wedding night lingerie in them but since her boyfriend moved out a couple weeks ago I don’t think that’s the case.

Several weeks ago they both moved a lot of stuff out then a couple hours later brought it all back. That was a very confusing scenario.

I feel bad for this girl. She’s a very tiny, thin Asian girl and she’s carrying these heavy suitcases all by herself.
