Worth a thousand words

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

They say a picture is worth a thousand words… that is if you have your camera with you.. and your batteries are charged or fresh… and your compact flash card is empty. If your batteries are dead then that picture is worth nothing.

I always download photos from my camera as soon as possible after taking pictures. When we went to Texas I downloaded every night when we stopped for the night. After we got home I transferred the pictures from the laptop to my desktop and then saved them to disk so I’ll always have them. It’s about time to do a photo backup again as I’ve added a lot more pictures to my desktop. It would be so sad if something happened to the desktop and those memories were lost.

I tricked Kody

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

I had 3 of my grandkids here overnight on Saturday. For dinner I made cheeseburgers and fries for dinner. The youngest one, Kody, saw a small jar on the counter that came out of the box of NASCAR burgers and asked what it was. It was a jar of seasoning and Kody said he didn’t want that on his burger. I told him ok and he left the kitchen. I proceeded to put the seasoning on all of the burgers. As they were eating and Kody was almost done with his burger I asked him how it was. He told me it was yummy. I then told him that it had the seasoning on it that he said he didn’t want. The look on his face was priceless. He did finish the cheeseburger… with a smile.

We all ate so much that night that all of us should have hopped on a treadmill to work it all off! We all had a great time and I was so happy to see them. I’ve really missed those little buggers.

Romantic dinner for 2

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

It’s always nice to have a romantic dinner for 2. Pack up the kids and ship them to a relative or babysitter for an overnight stay. Prepare hubby’s favorite meal, turn the lights down low, light candles, pretty yourself up, put on your hot lingerie, pour some wine and watch the excitement happen. Hubby’s eyes will light up and it will give him something to remember for a long time.

Put some spark in your marriage. Every relationship needs something like this once in awhile.

Furniture arranging

Sunday, June 22nd, 2008

When I got my new living room furniture I had to do some creative rearranging. See.. my elliptical was in the living room and after getting my furniture there was no room for that anymore. I folded up the elliptical and rolled it into the second bedroom where I had to do some more rearranging. It’s now in front of the window and there is still plenty of room to move around both sides of the bed. I’d love to have a separate room to keep my exercise/strength equipment in. Maybe one of these days when we get a house we’ll be able to do that.

Par-tay!

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

I know it’s early for this but Halloween is one of my favorite holidays since I was born just a few days before it. I work for a Halloween store too. If you’re planning a Halloween party you can either make your own Halloween invitations, if you’re creative. If not you can buy them at the store or have them custom made at a printer’s shop.

When I was young most of my birthday parties were Halloween parties. Everyone would come in costume. We would have fall/Halloween games to play. My mom did a variation of Pin the Tail on the donkey.. it was pin the smile on the pumpkin where you took a cut out of a mouth and tried to put it in the right place while blindfolded.

Ah… childhood memories!

House help

Saturday, June 14th, 2008

I miss the house we used to have. It had 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a great kitchen, living room and dining room. We added on a 2 car garage and later added a 1 bedroom, 1 bath in law apartment on the back. The livingroom/great room area and master bedroom and bath had cathedral ceilings with skylights in the living room and kitchen.

We ran into financial problems and lost the house. I really wish we had looked into getting some foreclosure help before that happened. We didn’t do that and just let them take it. That began the condo renting cycle. We really want to try to get another house. Hubby really misses having a garage to tinker around in and I really miss having my own home. I miss being able to paint and do what I want with my home. I miss the peace and quiet we had at our old home. Some day… some day….

Exercise

Sunday, June 8th, 2008

I have an elliptical that I workout on. I do roughly 20 minutes a day with my IPod to help ease the boredom. I think that’s why a lot of people give up on exercising… it’s boring. Exercise to music and that makes it so much more fun.

Exercise is the diet pill that works.. even though you don’t take any pills. It gets the blood pumping.. it helps strengthen your muscles.. helps prevent heart disease.. helps your joints and overall makes you feel better! Exercise will help with insomnia and depression too. I know when I get done exercising I get and exercise “high”. I feel like I could conquer the world!

Check up

Sunday, June 1st, 2008

I need to get my eyes checked. It’s been over 2 years and they say you should have your eyes checked at least every 2 years. What I would really love to have is those multi-focal contacts or Lasik surgery. I really don’t like wearing glasses. I have a pair of bi-focals for reading and driving, etc and I have another pair for working at the computer. It’s a real pain to have to change glasses all the time.

There has been a few times where I left the house wearing my computer glasses and didn’t realize it until I was going down the road. I had to turn around and go back home and get my other glasses.

Actually what I’d really love to have it the eyesight I used to have. I didn’t wear glasses when I was younger. I didn’t have to start wearing glasses until I was in my 40’s. I’ll take my age 20 eyesight anytime!
