Needle Case

My mother-in-law made this needle case for me. The outside is made of denim and the inside has lots of slots for my knitting needles and crochet hooks. She made this for me years and years ago.

The case is sitting on my knitting/crochet box. In that box is the case, yarn needles, patterns and in the bottom lots of yarn and crochet cotton. The can with the hole in the lid was my grandmothers. It holds a ball of yarn. You thread the end though the hole and you don’t have to chase your ball of yarn across the room. My grandmother is the one who taught me to knit and crochet when I was young.

The next picture shows the case open. It gets the top folded over and the sides folded in and is held closed by velcro.

The next picture is a closer one of the slots for the knitting needles and crochet hooks.

Uh Oh

The crochet bug has bitten me again. I’m sitting here printing out free crochet patterns. So a new thing gets added to this blog. I’ll be posting about my crocheting adventures and posting pictures and maybe some patterns.

I started out knitting years and years ago then I went to crochet. I like crocheting so much better. I always used to crochet and sew Christmas presents for the family. I’m thinking I’m going to get an early start on Christmas presents for this coming Christmas.

So stay tuned for a new feature on this blog! I get to use my “crafts” category! lol

Bird Biscuit

This is the first in a series of posts that I will do on Thursdays. They will all have to do with crafts.

Bird Biscuit

You will need:

1 Flat wooden heart (or any wooden shape)
Peanut butter
Birdseed
Drill
About 4 feet of 1/4 inch wide ribbon
Bowl

Directions:

1. Drill a small hole in each side of the heart. Make sure each hole is the same distance from the top so that the heart is not lopsided.
2. Cover the heart completely in peanut butter and then put the heart in a bowl of bird seed.
3. Cover the entire area of the heart with the birdseed making sure no bare spots are left anywhere on the heart.
4. Cut two pieces of ribbon each 2 feet long and run one piece of ribbon through each hole.
5. Tie all ends of the ribbons together in a bow or knot.
6. Hang bird biscuit in a tree or somewhere birds have easy access to it.
