Mummy Cookies

mummycookiesOk everyone… get out your fat burners because these cookies are 400 calories for just 1 cookie! But they’re cute and perfect for Halloween.

1 pouch sugar cookie mix
2 tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa
1/3 cup softened butter or margarine
1 egg
1 container (1 lb) vanilla frosting
12 small jelly beans, cut in half
black decorating gel

1. Pre-heat oven to 375°F. In medium bowl, stir together cookie mix and cocoa. Add the butter and egg; stir until it forms a soft dough

2. On a floured surface, roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut with 5-inch gingerbread man shaped cookie cutter. On un-greased cookie sheet, place 1 inch apart. Gather dough scraps; re-roll until all dough is used.

3. Bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until cookies are puffy and the tops are dry. Cool 2 minutes; remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack. Cool completely, about 15 minutes.

4. Spoon frosting into re-sealable plastic bag; partly seal the bag and cut 1/4-inch hole in a bottom corner. Or you can use a decorating bag with a flat tip with 1/4-inch-wide opening (#44). Pipe frosting on cookies for bandages. Place jelly beans for eyes and use black gel to make pupils in eyes. Store cookies in airtight container.

Cat hair

I’m going to the store to do my grocery shopping on Friday and I’m going to pick up a Pledge Fabric Sweeper. I’ve seen this on TV and I want to see if it works as good as they say. It’s supposed to remove pet hair from furniture, pet beds or anywhere your pet lays and leaves his/her fur.

JoJo has been laying on our bed on our dark blue comforter and it’s covered in her fur.

After I get it and give it a good try I’ll do a review on here. I will not be getting paid and it will be an honest review of it. I have a need to remove pet hair so I will try it and review it.

Things to do

My list of things to do today…

Take out the trash – *check*
Wash the dishes – *check*
Pick up Andi, Drew and the baby so they can borrow my car – *check*
Get the mail – *check* .. speaking of check we got the check from the landlord for the balance of our deposit. I’m very disappointed because we didn’t get very much… less than $100.
Cash check – *check*
Look up travel insurance online then think about paying the old landlord a visit – Not going to do that but I’d really love to give him a piece of my mind in person.
Clean out the kitty box – *check*
Take some Tylenol (because I have a headache) – *check*

Looking

We are still looking for a place to move. Andi went and picked up her boyfriend from Pennsylvania yesterday. Now they are both looking for jobs. I hope they have better luck than I’m having.

We will all be moving in together to help with finances so there won’t be any cross country moving any time soon. We need to find at least a 3 bedroom house.. possibly 4 with a garage and hopefully either a basement or family room.

Andi is trying to find a job in the medical field and Drew is a diesel mechanic. They are both Army combat veterans and have both been in Iraq.

If anyone in Southern NJ wants a couple of good, disciplined workers then please hire my daughter and her boyfriend!

Do you know?

Do you know what causes those dark circles under your eyes? It’s really oxidizing hemoglobin which is caused by leaky capillaries. Sounds bad huh? It’s really not.. it just doesn’t look good to have “raccoon eyes”. It’s just that the skin around the eyes is very thin and a lot of rubbing of the eyes can cause the “bruising”.

As you get older the skin gets even thinner and you see the bluish color of the blood vessels under the skin even more. There is no cure for this but you can use cover up makeup to make them less visible. You can also try cucumber slices on your eyes to sooth them or search for using castor oil on the skin around your eyes. It’s supposed to help with the dark circles.

Staying the night

What kind of accommodations do you look for when traveling? Do you go the camping route? The motel route? Or do you look for the best hotels anaheim has to offer when you are in California?

Personally hotels are a bit pricey for our budget and we usually go the motel route. There are good ones out there and the ones we’ve liked best are Super 8 motels. At least the ones between here and Texas were good. They had free wireless internet and the beds were really comfy and clean. The rooms were spotless. In fact hubby liked them so much that any time we go anywhere he wants to stay in a Super 8.

It’s in and out

I’m trying to get some posts done while I can. I’m using wireless internet at my brother-in-laws house, which is where our camper is set up, and the internet goes in an out a lot. I never know when it’s going to quit. I could be in the middle of doing a search for herbal acne treatments and boom.. the internet signal disappears. I guess it doesn’t help that we are in a metal camper and about 50 or so feet from the wireless router.

I have to keep moving my computer tower from place to place to get a half way decent signal. The most signal I’m able to get is 2 out of 5 bars. I can’t wait until we can find a house to rent and get good internet again!
