Life and stuff

There have been a lot of murder/suicides around the country lately and several in my area. It’s gotten me thinking just how precious and short life is. Hubby and I both have life insurance and my term life insurance price is in with hubbys. It comes out of his paycheck every 2 weeks.

That won’t insure nothing will happen to us but if anything does happen our children will be able to take care of our expenses and bury us. Yeah.. I know.. dark thoughts aren’t a good thing, but it’s something that needs to be done. Death will happen to everyone someday.

Now on that thought I’m going to find something more positive to think about!

I did it all by myself!

Just before I moved into my condo my landlord “recaulked” my shower in the master bathroom. What he actually did was put a light coat of caulk over the nasty, moldy caulk that was already there. I went out and bought the Pro Caulk that you see advertised on TV. It worked pretty good except the tool they give you to remove the caulk doesn’t work all that well. I used a flat head screwdriver instead.

Ready for caulk

I removed my shower doors and got busy scraping out the old caulk. The landlord had smeared it half way up the bottom tiles and it was like performing microdermabrasion to get it all off but I got it all. He had even caulked the inside of the tracks for the door and in the process blocked some of the drain holes. I removed all of that using steel wool pads. After a couple of breaks I finished up the removal then cleaned the area good and let it dry. After the shower was dry I tackled the caulk. It was easier than I thought it would be. The tools to smooth the caulk worked perfectly.

Tomorrow, after the caulk is completely dry, I’ll give the shower and the doors a good cleaning. It will be easier to clean the doors with them off of the shower. That shower looks so much better already!

No more hair in my face

dsc017291I was at CVS this morning. I was there to get a couple things I needed. I looked around at other stuff and found this cool thing for my hair. It’s called EZ Combs and it was in their “As Seen on TV” section. It was only $9.99 so I picked it up.

I’ve always had trouble with combs falling out of my hair because my hair is so fine. These combs are connected by elastic covered with beads. I tried it and the combs haven’t even moved in the last 2 hours and it was easy to put in. It comes with a step-by-step styling guide and you can watch a video online.

I usually just leave my hair down because I have so much trouble putting it up. It won’t be a problem with these EZ Combs.

This is what’s for dinner tonight

I just made a meatloaf and put it in the fridge. I’ll but it in the oven in about 45 minutes to bake. We’ll be having mashed potatoes and vegetables along with it.

I didn’t measure anything but this is what I put in it:

2 lbs ground beef 93% lean
1 egg
breadcrumbs
parmesean cheese
onion & garlic powder
honey barbecue sauce

I mixed it all together so it wasn’t real wet but not dry either. I put it into a loaf pan and added strips of bacon on the top and brushed on more honey barbecue sauce.

It will cook for 1 1/2 hours at 350 degrees.

Baby things

My daughter, Andi, is pregnant with her 4th child. She has absolutely nothing for the baby. Her youngest is 9 and she thought she was done having babies and got rid of all the baby stuff long ago. So now she’s been looking at prices of things and is getting discouraged. I found some places online and sent her links. She can also check out some online auctions to find a good deal.

I just wish we were rich or could win a lottery then I’d send her all the money she needs to get everything she needs for the new little guy. Yes.. it is a boy. The ultrasound she had last week said so.
